New Years Eve Magick

New Years Eve is here.... So I've gathered up a collection of Spells, Chants, Rituals, etc...

A New Year’s Eve Wishing Spell
The New Year is always a time of reflection….a time to think about what we want to improve about ourselves and our life going forward. It is a time to ‘clean the slate’….a time to break bad habits, rethink goals, and renew faith. Even those who don’t practice magic look at the turning of one year to the next as a special, mysterious time. It is almost as if anything is possible!

NEW YEAR’S EVE WISH SPELL

You will need:
one white candle
a cauldron or censer
a clean piece of unrecycled paper or parchment (use non-recycled so that nothing previously written on it affects your spell)
an envelope

On a clean piece of paper or parchment, write your resolutions or goals for the New Year. Ask for only those things that you really need and which you can reasonably obtain without harm coming to anyone. Things such as wealth or a new car are reasonable, but if you need to quit smoking, get healthy, or take better care with your finances, those things should come first.

Prepare your space and cast your circle as you normally would. Prepare your candle by carving your name on it, and anointing it with any oils or herbs that correspond to your desires. This spell is designed to be done at sundown on New Year’s Eve while the sun is going down and the moon is rising, but if that is not a good time, it can be done at sunrise on New Year’s Day when both can still be seen.

Speak the following:

I ask in the name of (whichever deity that you invoke) that, I (your name) be granted:

Turn to the North and read your wish list. After reading the list, say:

While Father and Mother are in the sky,
I ask, o wise ones, hear my cry!
These wishes that I give to flame,
Manifest to me by name.
Give to me this blessed power,
To succeed by day, and by hour.
I set this spell, three times three
As I will, so mote it be.

Light the list from your altar candle and drop it into your cauldron or censer.

Place the ashes in an envelope, and keep them in a safe place. On New Years’ Eve of the following year, bury those ashes, and repeat the spell as above. This way, the goals will continue to grow year after year, and manifest themselves fully.

Grapes at Midnight
People of Madrid, Spain, have an interesting old New Year's custom: at the stroke of midnight each person eats twelve grapes. The cinemas will even stop running a movie at midnight to allow the patrons to eat their grapes.
First Footing
New Year's Eve is traditionally a time for assessing the past twelve months and for looking ahead to the New Year. Numerous customs are still retained in Europe and the United States, including the idea of kindling a new light from the old. This can be achieved in a number of ways, including the following simple ceremony.
At a few minutes to midnight, put out all of your lights except for a single candle or a lantern (it's important that the light be a living one rather than electric). Send someone outside (traditionally it is someone who has dark hair) with the light, which they must guard and protect from the weather. As the clock strikes twelve have that person knock on the door. Open it and welcome them in with some form of ceremonial greeting, such as:

Welcome to the light of the New Year
And welcome he/she who brings it here.
Go around the house with the candle and relight all the lights you put out. If these can be candles so much the better, but don't burn the house down In Scotland this custom is known as "First Footing," and the person who first puts his or her foot across the door is the one who brings fortune to the whole household. Often someone in the house arranges with a friend to come to the house at the exact time carrying a gift - called a handsel in Scotland and consisting of a lump of coal, or a bottle of whiskey - something that will ensure that more gifts come throughout the next twelve months.

New Year's Eve
From The Silver Bough we have this nice little New Year's Eve folk tradition:
The house received a mini spring-cleaning. Slops and ashes, which are usually removed in the morning, are carried out. Debts must be paid, borrowed articles returned, stockings darned, tears mended, clocks wound up, musical instruments tuned, pictures hung straight; brass and silver must be glittering; fresh linen must be put on the beds. Even in the slummiest houses... brooms and pails, soap, polishing rags and darning-needles emerge from neglected cupboards and drawers, and the bairns receive a thorough scrubbing in honor of the New Year.

New Years Spell/Ritual

New Years Spell/Ritual

Here is a new New Year's Spell/Ritual which really is quite magical on many levels. Giving the base pattern for the New Year Spell plus various ideas how to personalize it, do it with or without ingredients, alone or in a coven etc.
The base pattern used in this New Year's Spell can be used for many other purposes of wish fulfillment (wishing spell), goal setting, reality creating, healing and other magical & pure energy magic applications. Happy New Year to all!
New Year Spell/Ritual by StarFields
Unlike the lame "new year's resolutions" the non-magical folk make, casting a New Year Spell is quite a different matter.
Magicians are much more conscious of what they want, and what they want is far more far reaching than just a big house, a wife and a big car. There are levels and layers to reality which, when aligned, make magical things happen, and that's the core of this New Year's Spell.

There is a base pattern with this New Year Spell which allows you to personalize this spell in many different ways and create your own custom New Years Ritual that way. I've given the base pattern followed by ideas for alternatives in each case.
The basic structure of this New Year's Spell is to use the 12 houses of the Zodiac like a clock face to place intentions for the 12 months of the coming year.
For each clock position, we place a marker and evoke our intentions with a simple spell.
Each clock position corresponds to one of the houses of the Zodiac, starting with Aries at 1 o'clock and finishing with Pisces at 12 o'clock.
When the whole clock/year/zodiac is complete, we bless the whole thing altogether and let it become a symbol sphere, which makes it more than the sum of its parts.

Here is the whole New Year Spell, step by step:
 1. Preparing for the New Year's Spell
  • 1 – Aries – Seeds, new beginnings, inspiration, new projects, birth.
  • 2 – Taurus – Earthly success, material wealth, physical health.
  • 3 – Gemini – Communication, messages, information.
  • 4 – Cancer – Relationships with self, other people and higher forces.
  • 5 – Leo – Art, romance, luck, free will, creativity, love.
  • 6 – Virgo – Service, family, community, organisation.
  • 7 – Libra – Harmony, balance, negotiations, resolutions.
  • 8 – Scorpio – Magic, philosophy, sex, death, alchemy.
  • 9 – Sagittarius – Spirituality, universal consciousness, law, science.
  • 10 – Capricorn – Power, authority, fame, empire building.
  • 11 – Aquarius – Renewal, evolution, transcending the old, transpersonal.
  • 12 – Pisces – Soul, karmic matters, mysteries, far journeys.

Copy out the 12 houses of the zodiac below and consider what you want to have happen for the next year in that department.
For example, 1, Aries, is about new beginnings. What do you want to begin or start afresh? Make up your mind and write it down, for example, I want to start exercising regularly.
Put your desire into this form of spell:
Lord of the Stars
now hear my plea:
Bring (...) to me
in perfect love and harmony
this is my will, so shall it be.

In our example, we could choose to say:
Lord of the Stars
now hear my plea:
Bring wondrous exercise to me
in perfect love and harmony
this is my will, so shall it be.

Work your way through all the 12 houses/positions so you know what you are going to say; write it down if necessary.

*Personalization Note For The New Year's Spell: You can choose to direct your spell to another entity than the Lord of the Stars. For example, you can evoke the Lady of the Stars, "my higher self" or any entity you personally feel will get the job done for you.

 2. Gathering The New Year's Spell/Ritual Ingredients For The New Years Spell
The base pattern for this spell is to light a white candle for each one of the 12 sub-spells/positions. This can be a candle or a tea light and when all are lit, you have a quite wonderful "circle of lights."

*Personalisation Notes For The New Year's Spell: For those who can't manage 12 candles for whatever reason, you can use other markers instead, for example 12 clear quartz crystals, or 12 pebbles at a pinch. The main thing is that something happens after you have spoken the spell. Either you light the candle and place it into the circle, or kiss the crystal/stone/marker and place it in the circle. That concludes the 12 individual sub-spells each time.

There is no need to cast a circle for this spell/ritual as the completed Circle of Lights is clearly its own circle and focuses the energy of the 12 spells by virtue of being an established circle; but if you want to cast one and invite the quarters, by all means, feel free to do so.

If you want, you can mark out the places on your New Year's Spell clock before you start with chalk/sand circles, or by placing pictures of the Zodiac signs down, or using a ritual cloth or painting with the Zodiac circle upon it. It's not necessary however as the Circle of Lights comes into being anyway when you light/place the markers.

 3. Doing The New Year Spell/Ritual
Be clear in your mind what you are going to ask for on each one of the positions; have it written down if necessary.
Set a nice ambience (many practitioners prefer to take a ritual bath and get dressed in ceremonial clothes and jewelry before they start).
Have your candles ready to hand and the space to place them.

* Personalization note: You can do this New Years Spell on a table top, or on the floor, and you can be inside the Circle of Lights, or outside of it and make it smaller.

Relax, loosen up any tense body parts, take three deep breaths and evoke:
On this night,
I bless the year to come
My will be heard,
My will be done.
Light the first candle, evoke the requisite spell for the 1 o'clock position and place the candle in the 1 o'clock position.
Take a deep breath in and out and clear your mind.
Pick up the next candle, light it from the 1st and evoke the spell for the 2 o'clock position.
Repeat until the whole Circle of Lights is established.
With both hands over the circle in a clockwise direction, evoke:

On this night
I bless the year to come
My will was heard,
and it is done.

Bow and either blow out the candles or if safe/possible, leave the candles to burn out through the rest of the night.

Additional notes on the New Year's Spell:
You can do this spell with a group, coven or family. Agreeing on mutual aims for everyone in the group so each of the 12 sub-spells is cohesive is a great part of setting up this spell. Members of the group can take turns lighten and evoking the sub-spells, and everyone says the start and finish evocation together, replacing I and my with We and our.
With this New Years Spell, which can be as stripped down and simplified as a single person doing this with pebbles on a table top, the preparation of knowing what you're asking for is all important. Really spend some time to figure out what you really, really want and need on each one of the positions.
You can cut out the whole Zodiac thing and do this spell/ritual by the months of the year instead. In the preparation phase, focus on each month and decide what you want to have happen in that month for the complete New Years Spell.
Another way of doing this spell is to use the 23 Genius Symbols instead of the 12; the blessing up front and at the end sets the intention and you can stream your wishes, using "Lord of Time," "Lord of Space," etc. in the sub-spells.
For a really spectacular group version of this New Years Spell you can use fireworks instead of candles. You can write the purpose of each one on the firework; one person after the other puts their unlit firework forward into the circle, ready to go, then steps back and waits until everyone has done the same. At the end, everyone steps forward together and lights theirs so they all go off together.

Change your Luck Spell & Chant

When the Moon is Waning, go outside and open your arms.
Call upon the Lady of the Moon and open arms to Her.
Silently communicate your problems and what has been going on with you. When you can think of nothing else to tell the Moon,
Say the chant: Go inside and straight to bed.
When you awake the next morning, know that your troubles will cease and new hope will abound as the Old Moon disappears in the sky.

Holidays...

So are the holidays done yet??
They are seriously exhausting me... decorating... people.. shopping... more people... smiling.. wrapping.. planning.. going.. cleaning.. cooking.. UGHHHH..
Today the day was at my Sister in Laws... Love her yes.. Had a good time - yes.... but just the matter of neglecting other things I could have taken care of ... selfish I suppose... and she is great... but my mental anguish still leads me to stress. Maybe because I just want the holidays over & things back to a regular schedule.

I do love seeing family and having time together... but it gets made into something so hectic...
Yule.. now Yule seems more casual, not rushed and natural... I need more of that!! And I will be working more of that in.. little by little.

So are they done yet? No. Not completely... because now decorations need to be put away...
Then a New Year will begin.. Now that I'm looking forward too!

Mother Night

Mother Night from GypsyMagicSpells

Mother Night is traditionally celebrated on the third day of the twelve days of Christmas. I couldn't find much lore, but I did find this nice little article in The Winter Solstice about Mother Christmas (Frau Holle, Holda, Hulda, Holla):

Honoring the Mothers

There are so many male figures associated with the Winter Solstice, we should give room to at least one female character, and who better than Mother Christmas? On this day, include a figure of Holda upon your Winter shrine.

Here is a modern invocation for Holda by Diana Paxson:

Holy Holla, in the heavens,
A snowy featherbed you're shaking -
Bless the earth with your white blanket,
Moist the mantle you are making.

Holla high above come riding.
Your Wagon rolls through winter weather;
Turn away your face of terror,
Bless us as we bide together.

Holy Holla, here we gather,
Send us skill in all our spinning.
Huldrefold (Gnomes) to help in housework,
Wealth and health with your aid winning.

Lapis Lazuli Properties

Lapis Lazuli is actually comprised of several different crystals: blue lazurite, hauynite, sodalite, diopsite, white calcite and gold pyrite.
This stunning deep blue stone has healing properties and can improve your mood by holding it.
As a stone working with the Third Eye, Lapis Lazuli can help with a connection to spirituality, listening, psychic abilities, strengthening intuition, mediation and mental clarity.
It can be placed around blue and purple candles for a healing spell.

Water of Mars (War Water) Recipe & Uses

Water of Mars (War Water) Recipe
Psychic attack , something dark comes your way? Then Water of Mars will help you send these black shadows as far away from you as possible.
War Water, also known as Iron Water and Mars Water, is not native to hoodoo practices. Most likely, it is a European influence, as its name and purpose are derived from the Roman god of war, Mars. However, despite the fact that is it not historically traditional to hoodoo, War Water has earned such a prominate place in modern conjure it is worth talking about.
What is War Water?
Essentially, War Water is rust iron suspended in water.  In its most basic form it is water in which cut iron has been allowed to oxidize and rust.  The water and iron used depends on both the purpose of the concoction and the conjurer preparing it.  To some conjurers the type of water does not matter, others will insist that it is necessary that you use thunderstorm water for the best results.  Still others will insist on running water as the base, specifically water that runs in a direction away from you and your home.  As for the iron used, some recipes call for cut nails, some coffin nails, and others railway spikes, depending on the purpose.  Water of Mars (War Water) is a mighty tool that every witch should keep in hand. Water of Mars was used in folklore to treat anemia, however, modern scientific methods are far more capable to cure such medical conditions (and with less adverse effects).  The Water of Mars is a simple yet powerful recipe.
Ingredients
A jar
Water
Iron nails (if possible try to find cut iron nails)
On a Tuesday (the day of Mars) put the iron nails in the jar and fill the jar with water. Leave the nails inside the jar for at least 15 days in a cool place (preferably your refrigerator as you will prevent bacteria to be cultivated in the water).  For the first 7 days leave the jar unopened and then open periodically as air will speed up the oxidation process of the nails. The secret for this recipe is oxidation.
Strain the water from the jar and use as needed. You can keep adding water to the original jar with the iron nails indefinitely and you will have an infinite supply of Water of Mars.  In addition, you can summon the God Mars to bless your water with his powers.
At this time, other ingredients may be added to the mix.  These ingredients might include additional iron, graveyard dirt, thorns, urine, rotting oak leaves, and/or spanish moss.
Spanish Moss is a flowering plant that grows on trees in the South. It has become a common additive in War Water. It rots well in water giving the concoction a putrid or *swampy*smell and also a nice black color, which some prefer.

Use Water of Mars :
To banish evil and  remove negativity from your place – Sprinkle around your house
To protect you, your loved one and your property from future psychic and magical attacks
As additional aid in unbinding spells- Use it in your ritual to remove malevolent magic that has targeted you and your loved ones
To remove obstacles- When you feel that your road is blocked by unseen powers
For jinx removing- Add some drops in your bath along with a pinch of Black Salt and bathe
Black Salt can be added to Water of Mars for improved effects as the two ingredients will make a powerful duet against evil. However, I would like you to be aware that it is a very strong combination and if you use it in your property always use other protective ingredients with more mild effects afterwards. Burn lavender, myrrh and gardenia oils in an oil burner to seal your protective ritual and calm the atmosphere down after a fierce battle.
Unlike many gods of war, such as Ares, who is a primarily destructive and destabalizing force, Mars is military force meant to bring about peace.  Like its namesake, War Water, is an offensive tool meant to bring peace back into ones life by causing discord in another's.  Essentially, War Water's primary purpose is hostile foot track magic.
Most accounts call for War Water to be contained in a glass jar, which would be thrown onto an enemies porch or against their door, breaking, and leaving a sharp dirty mess for them to step in.  The trick would cause dicord and stife for the person or family within and eventually drive the enemy away.  However, if breaking a glass jar on someone's door step does not seem feasible to you, it is not a necessity.
*Be aware that as with many other magical recipes the same materials that are used for protection and good can be used for hexing and evil as well. All it matters it is not the material but your will and consciousness. Every spell you cast with a good will and a pure heart will return its benefit to you, every spell you cast to cause harm can, and eventually will, turn back to you. Beware of your intentions.

Black Salt Recipe & Uses

Black Salt
Black Salt
Black Salt, is a very famous Hoodoo and Santeria magical tool. It is an invaluable product in any witch’s cupboard as it can remove negative energy from your property, remove unwanted guests and prevent them from returning back to you, protect you from the influences of third parties (relatives, colleagues, neighbors etc).
Black Salt exists in a ready-to-use form in the market but I will reveal its recipe to you if you prefer to make it yourself.

Traditionally, the recipe demands to add salt along with scrapings from culinary pots (if you have an old cooking pot with enough black metal to scrap then this can be used). Alternatively, you can mix salt with charcoal, crushed black pepper, ash from your fireplace, or even better ash of protective herbs that you have previously burned in your cauldron.
For every three spoons of salt add one spoon of the material of your choice.

Now how to use black salt:
Create a circle around the perimeter of your house for protection
Sprinkle in your place to banish evil and to cleanse from negativity
Open your door and sprinkle some salt outside of your door naming the person you don’t wish to visit your property again and the reasons behind this
Sprinkle some, salt with caution, behind the person you wish to remove from your place and then some outside of your door
Black Salt can be added to Water of Mars for improved protective and jinx removing effects. Please note that Black Salt is a very powerful tool so I want you to think twice before you cast a spell to remove someone from your house. From someone with experience they say that its effects are long-lasting.
