I have read how the combination of melaleuca, lavender, geranium and frankincense (or some combination of these four oils) have helped individuals with eczema. I've also heard that cedarwood works great for eczema.
Useful Essential Oils for Eczema
- Chamomile - Chamomile essential oil has strong anti-inflammatory and calming properties.
Clary Sage - Also an anti-inflammatory, this essential oil minimizes stress and anxiety, which are common triggers of eczema.Frankincense - This is a wonderful healing essential oil; it has cleansing, antiseptic properties, helps to reduce inflammation, and promotes cellular regeneration.Geranium - Geranium essential oil is often used in skin treatments for its normalizing and balancing properties.Lavender - Lavender is probably the most pertinent eczema essential oil. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, calming, and normalizing properties. It also supports immune health, and is extremely beneficial for alleviating stress.Linden - Also known as lime blossom, this essential oil is moisturizing for the skin, as well as calming.Sandalwood - Sandalwood essential oil works as an antiseptic and a skin moisturizer.Tea Tree - Tea tree oil is one of the best cleansing essential oils. It is extremely effective in protecting the skin from infection, as an antiseptic, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal essential oil. It also has anti-inflammatory properties.
Recipe:
- Finely grind the oats to a powder/flour consistency and set aside. {You can use a blender, food processor or a Magic Bullet type of appliance.}
- Over a low heat, melt the coconut oil in a pan until it has a liquid consistency.
- Add in a few drops of Rosemary Oil. {If you are adding it.}
- Add ground oats in the pan and mix until well blended.
- Now, pour the olive oil into the mixture until blended.
6. Once all ingredients are mixed, remove from heat and pour in to a small storage container. {It filled up 1 1/2 baby food jars.} Let it harden for several hours.
Now that your recipe is complete… Apply to hands and skin as needed and feel the magic at work! This recipe lasts for a long period of time so enjoy!
- WHY OATS? Oatmeal contains healthy fats. When they come into contact with your skin, these fats help to add moisture to soften and repair your skin.
- WHY COCONUT OIL? Coconut oil works wonders as a moisturizer for all skin types, especially dry skin and aging skin, leaving you refreshed and looking wide-awake. The fat in the oil helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles without any irritation.
- WHY OLIVE OIL? It is a great skin moisturizer, in part because it contains linoleic acid, a compound not made by the body, but which prevents water from evaporating.
- WHY ROSEMARY OIL? Rosemary essential helps in toning your skin and removing dryness.
