Visualization techniques for Magic and Spells
Some people advance far into the art of magic without developing their basic power to visualize. Many can see the object of their spells or perhaps feel a breeze in their mind when conjuring the wind but most stop there. Not fully visualizing means not fully connecting to the unconscious mind. The power to connect the energies of the dream plane to the physical and vice-versa lie in the ability to fully immerse oneself in the visualization process. This is the basic tenement of magic "as above so below"
- Are you working to learn the secrets of magic and spells?
- Are you unable to enjoy a good sexual daydream like you used to with all the scents and sounds and passion?
- Do you find that your spells seem to lack the right focus or misdirect?
If you have answered yes to any of these... then visualization can benefit you
Visualization
Exercise 1: Start out by grabbing an item to visualize. A flower, maybe a ball, whatever works for you, but keep it simple to start. Pick up the object you have selected and rotate it 360 degrees so that you have a chance to see it from all sides. Next close your eyes and try to hold a visualization of the item for at least 60 seconds without wavering.
You may find that you get distracted easily during the effort to hold the image. The mind is dynamic and tends to shift from topic to topic to try to keep up with all that is going on around and within you. Here is a trick that helps you to hold images for longer periods. Try the last exercise again but this time keep rotating the image in your mind. In other words see the item you are visualizing like you are turning it with your hand. Focus on small details you have noticed on the item when examining it.
You may have noticed a difference this time. By making the visualized item dynamic and focusing on recreating flaws etc. your mind is kept busier and therefor is able to hold the image longer.
Most spells and rituals will require you to focus on a subject for a few minutes at a time and to maintain it clearly. The clearer you can see the subject of a spell the more you will feel connected to it. The better the clarity and thereby connection to the visualization of your target the better the impact of a spell. Words of wisdom I have gleaned from one of my favorite books on summonings states: "All things are subject to your will and attentions. By focusing on an energy it will move with thy desire, will, and faith." I recommend you work toward holding an image (visualization) for at least 2-3 minutes at a time.
Exercise 2: This exercise puts several things set into motion in a visualization to check your attention span and creativity. It is difficult seeing a full scenario play out for a spell if you can't see everything going on in that visualization at once. This exercise will also be very difficult even the more advanced practitioner to maintain so do not be discouraged if you can not hold the image long. Our focus here is to stretch your potential. When set to a spell the objects used will be less rigid and more interesting to you. So even if you only do mediocre in this exercise it will make a huge impact in your magical visualizations.
Start out by visualizing a hula hoop (you can find one at any toy store or online to examine). Lets center the hoop in your visualization so that it looks like a perfect open circle in front of you over a background of plain darkness. And lets rotate it so that the bottom comes up in the front side and the top goes down on the rear side until they are reversed fully. Keep the hoop making revolutions in this manner until you can see and hold it clearly.
Next add another hula hoop to the visualization. Set this second hoop around or within the first hoop and spin the second hoop so that the left side rotates forward as the right side rotates backward until they have switched places. Keep both hoops rotating in their respective directions at the same time. When you can hold both hoops rotating properly for a decent length of time you can go to the next step.
For the advanced at visualization a third hoop can be added spinning elliptically (so that it perpetually wobbles around the other 2) To get an idea of what this last hoops revolutions should look like you can spin a hula hoop and watch as it loses momentum and begins wobbling toward the ground. If you can keep all 3 hoops going in the right order for more than a minute you have my applause and you have mastered the visual part of this visualization class!
For my own spells,I learned the techniques listed above from a similar exercise in a book on psychic powers a very long time ago and have tweaked it a bit to be more precise in its concept.
Exercise 3: So now you can see clearly in your minds eye, hold a dynamic, and stay focused. The next thing to learn in visualization is to add sound. A great tool for this (that most of you enjoy frequently) Television! Commercials in particular are easy for the mind to grasp with their jingles and chimes particularly geared to program you into buying their products or beliefs.
For this exercise you will need to watch the TV with the remote in your hand. Watch the first 10 to 20 seconds of the next commercial that you don't absolutely hate (or that you do hate if you are masochistic) and then turn the TV off. Recreate the portion of a commercial you just watched via visualization. Hear the jingles, chimes, voices, and noise fluctuations just as they occurred. If done right you may even notice horrible things set into that commercial you never knew were in place to enchant you and how they work on you.
Next move on to create new conversations in a visualization from voices you have heard before. Listen to Someones voice on the TV that turns you on for instance. Then turn off the TV and Recreate their voice in your visualization saying something hot and sexy to you. Come on you have done this before I'm sure! The goal here is to really recreate that voice well. The sex part is to help you pay attention!
Play a piano or listen to a recording of piano music online or via radio etc. Listen carefully to get a good grasp of the instruments range and sound. When you are ready, turn off the piano recording and recreate the music in your visualization. I want you to press some piano keys and hear the sounds that it makes in your visualization. Reorder the sounds from the piano music into your own song (actually play the piano in your visualization).
After developing the ability to visualize sounds you can use it in more active spells to develop clairaudience! This has been very handy in my own life. Also you can use it to recreate conversations to help remember exactly what was said if your memory is poor.
Exercise 4: Scent and taste can both be worked in visualization with food! Start by thinking on your favorite dish. What does it smell and taste like? Close your eyes and recreate the experience of eating some of your favorite dish. Notice if the scent and taste are sharp or soft, spicy or sweet. Work through a few foods that you have tried before for the next part of this exercise. Just surrender to the experience and let your imagination take you. Move on to obscure things like smelling and tasting a flower or perhaps smelling and tasting anger as a tangible substance.
You will notice that I did not have you use any physical aids here. The reason that you do not need them in this exercise is that these senses are very primal. Once something is tasted or smelled it is always remembered. As babies we go around smelling things and sticking them in our mouths. This may be the best place to start these exercises if you have issues seeing or hearing in your visualizations. Sometimes after a person works with imaginary smells and tastes they open up to the rest of the senses in visualization.
Kitchen witchery relies on passion for both food and the object of your spells. I have visualized someone tasting and smelling my food and having it turn them on. For this type of spell you need to visualize yourself actually become them and do the smelling and tasting and feel yourself getting turned on. I suggest it highly if you want a hot date!
Exercise 5: I recommend for this exercise that you choose physical items to help you. The items you pick might include: something with hard spikes, something sharp edged like a knife, something soft and cottony, something cold, and something hot.
Physically touch an item of your choice. Then recreate the sensation of touching and feeling it in visualization as before. I assume that I do not need to add the need for being careful with sharp objects. If I do then magic may not be your forte...
Exercise 6: Now take these exercises and put them all together. Close your eyes, relax, and let go of your daily routine. Visualize yourself in a meadow complete with grass, plants of all types, birds and other transient animals and even bugs. When you have the vision in place I want you to explore it fully. Feel and smell the breeze, touch and examine flowers and some of the critters in the area. Hear the sounds the birds and wind make. Perhaps there is a campfire complete with a spit and something like fresh caught trout or even venison cooking on it. Try some of the meat perhaps or if you are a vegetarian try some mint growing nearby. Spend several minutes working on balancing your senses in the visualization before returning to your day.
I have faith that these exercises will greatly aid you in your spells and other magical workings. Use them well.
